My childhood was filled with hospitalizations, ICU stays, finger sticks, injections, and the constant fear of what could happen if my blood sugar dropped unexpectedly. I often felt alone, ashamed, and as though diabetes controlled every part of my life.

Everything changed when I met—and ultimately trained—my miniature Dachshund, Ollie, to alert to my blood sugar changes.

For the first time in my life, diabetes no longer felt like a burden I had to carry by myself. Ollie gave me confidence, freedom, and peace of mind. He became my partner, helping me recognize dangerous blood sugar changes before they became emergencies. What once felt like a lifelong hardship became something that ultimately led me to discover my life's purpose.

Today, my mission is to help others experience that same freedom through professionally trained Diabetic Alert Service Dogs.

Diabetic Alert Service Dogs are specially trained to detect the unique scent changes that occur when blood glucose levels rise above or fall below your target range.

Using advanced scent detection training, these dogs learn to recognize subtle changes in body chemistry and perform a trained alert to notify their handler—or a designated secondary handler—that action may be needed.

These alerts can provide valuable time to:

• Check blood glucose levels
• Treat a low or high blood sugar episode
• Alert a parent, spouse, caregiver, or other designated person

While Diabetic Alert Dogs do not replace continuous glucose monitors (CGMs) or medical care, they provide an incredible additional layer of awareness, safety, and independence.

We offer professional evaluations to determine whether your dog is a suitable candidate for Diabetic Alert Service Dog training.
